Style: Yajiro-kei
Yajiro Kokeshi were first made during the Edo period (1603-) by woodworkers
that gathered in Yajiro Village in Miyagi Prefecture. It florised at Kamasaki Onsen near the village.
The body is inserted into the head. Shapes: Straight-bodied or "pekke" (flared at the hem)
The Yajiro Kokeshi dolls are characterized by pottery wheel patterns and large heads decorated to look like they are wearing berets.
